"The Upside to the Downside"
Joel Lovell’s article is definitely a little naive. But it comes from a good place. As a lawyer-turned-?, I relate to his friend Kim’s sentiment that coming to terms with living in NYC for the last 6 years has been a lot like acknowledging my own Christmas indulgence. And that nagging feeling is one of the reasons I’m leaving.
I don’t see the coming downturn as being as warm and fuzzy as Lowell does, though. Things are going to get ugly for those who have less. And that’s going to have some nasty effects on everyone’s lives, from the super-rich on down.
